Is the TCX-SPR the Best Gun in WARDOGS Season 2? Evo4Fun's Case, Checked
Field notesSeason 2

The BMR-308 ran WARDOGS for most of Season 1, and Season 2 took it apart along with every other gun firing a heavy round. So which gun replaces it? Evo4Fun answered that a few days after the patch with a video built on time-to-kill charts and range testing, and his pick is the brand new TCX-SPR assault rifle, which he calls the Spear.

This is his case written down, with every claim we could check held against Bulkhead's own Season 2 notes and the figures on our weapon pages. The charts and the testing are his. Where a number is his and not Bulkhead's or ours, we say so.

What Season 2 did to assault rifles

His video opens on the balance changes, and all of them are in Bulkhead's notes. Torso damage on assault rifles is now even across the upper, middle and lower body, at slightly lower damage per hit. Level 3 armour and helmets dropped from 55% to 50% damage reduction. And .308 Winchester, the FAL's round, lost 25% of its base damage.

Two more he mentions are easy to miss. Kills with an assault weapon now pay $2,000 instead of $1,500, so every kill with one is worth $500 more than it was. And Bulkhead moved the M4 from Assault level 20 to 28, with its unlock fee up to $150,000, so the TCX-SPR could take its old slot at Assault 20 for $100,000.

One thing his video does not mention: the Spear's own round was cut too. Bulkhead lists 7.62x39mm at 19% less base damage. The Spear launched with that cut already applied, so every figure below includes it.

His time-to-kill chart

This is the chart the case rests on. It is his spreadsheet: upper torso hits, each rifle's rate of fire, and muzzle velocity at 10 metres, using standard FMJ ammo against no armour and armour tiers 1 to 4.

Evo4Fun's WARDOGS assault rifle time-to-kill table with FMJ ammo: the TCX Spear kills in 0.464 seconds against tier 3 armour, ahead of the M4 at 0.536 and the FAL at 0.566
@Evo4Fun

Read the tier 3 column, because he expects most players this season to wear level 3 helmets and armour. The Spear kills in 0.464 seconds there. Next is the M4 at 0.536, then the FAL at 0.566, and the Galil trails at 0.657. Against no armour it is a near tie with the M4, 0.239 against 0.236, because both fire at the same rate and both take four shots on his numbers.

Switch to armour-piercing ammo and the gap at the top grows:

Evo4Fun's WARDOGS assault rifle time-to-kill table with AP ammo: the TCX-SPR kills in 0.389 seconds against tier 3 armour and 0.464 against tier 4
@Evo4Fun

With AP, the Spear kills in 0.389 seconds against tier 3 armour and 0.464 against tier 4, the fastest on the chart at both. It is not fastest everywhere, and he says so: with AP the FAL is a hair quicker against no armour and tiers 1 and 2. Every number on both charts is under or around half a second, so these are small gaps, but the Spear wins the column that matters most.

Our numbers point the same way

Our own arithmetic is simpler than his: one damage figure per gun, body shots, no armour, no falloff. On that, the Spear is recorded at 34 damage against 28 for the M4, at the same 800 rounds a minute. That is 3 shots to kill against 4 shots, or 150ms against 225ms.

Our shot counts are lower than his because we use the base figure and he uses upper torso hits, which Season 2 made slightly weaker on assault rifles. The method is different, and the winner is the same.

Why he takes it over the M4

Kill time alone is enough for him. For anyone who wants more, he gives four reasons, and the two we can check both hold.

It comes early. Assault level 20 and $100,000, where the M4 now waits until 28. You get more of the season to learn its recoil.

Armour-piercing ammo comes early too. The Spear fires 7.62x39mm, and Bulkhead moved 7.62x39mm AP from WARDOG level 63 to 60. He calls it the first AP ammo you can unlock in the game; the notes put 5.56mm AP at level 84 and 5.45x39mm AP at 90, which fits. AP is what lets you deal with players in tier 3 and 4 armour.

Best handling on paper. He reads its aim-down-sight speed as best in class, though only by about 10 milliseconds, and its accuracy as tied with the FAL. He also finds its recoil easier than the M4's, which he says is a feel, not a number.

Slower bullets, still the faster kill. Its weak stat is muzzle velocity: we record 700 m/s against 910 for the M4 and 950 for the Galil. On his testing, it still out-kills every other assault rifle out to 200 metres.

The downsides he does not hide

Attachments come late. Optics and grips you have already unlocked fit the Spear, but on his reading its first useful muzzle device sits at Assault 32 (or the end of the Recon track). Until then, he says the M4 or Galil can be the better pick, since they take a brake from Assault 21.

Ammo is scarcer. On his count, 7.62x39mm comes in stacks of 60 where 5.56mm and 5.45mm stack to 80. And only the Spear and the SKS fire it, so there is less of it to pick up in the zone.

No extended magazines. The Galil and M4 can run 50 and 60 rounds. He does not miss them, because extended mags add recoil and slow your aim.

It loses up close. At close range, the MP9, Vector, Glock 18 and a full-auto M14 beat it. His answer is that most guns lose to those at that range, and none of them come close to the Spear at 50 metres and beyond.

His attachment path

Right now he runs the TDG Vertical Foregrip for extra vertical control. At Assault 32 he adds the new muzzle and goes back to the Rubberized Ergonomic Foregrip to get aim speed back. At Assault 38 he swaps to the RVG Vertical Foregrip, which he calls the best grip in the game, and at Assault 40 he adds the suppressor: that pair is his end-game build. He says Season 2 did not change attachment stats, only where they unlock, and he is checking with the database sites to confirm.

The one number that does not match

He measures the FAL as down 33.1 damage per shot from Season 1, more than half, and suspects a bug. Bulkhead's notes say the FAL still has the highest damage per shot of any assault rifle, just closer to the TCX-SPR and M4. Both can be true only if the cut landed harder than intended. We do not record FAL damage until the databases agree, so we are not calling it either way. His advice stands either way: the FAL costs $250,000 to unlock at Assault 35, and it is not the gun to save for this season.

The rest of Season 2, in his words

He calls it the season of the assault rifle. DMRs are badly over-nerfed. The early SMGs are average: the PP-19 Bizon takes no foregrip, the MP5 got a lot more horizontal recoil (Bulkhead confirms that one), and the PP-19 Vityaz is middling. The Vector is still strong, and since the tier 3 armour change it kills one bullet faster against tier 3 body armour at 75 metres on FMJ. He had not yet tested the M14 or Evo-3 Ultra, and does not expect either to beat the Spear.

Our read

The case holds. Every claim we could check against Bulkhead's notes is right apart from the size of the FAL cut, his charts and our simpler arithmetic name the same winner, and he is upfront about where it loses. If you are below Assault 32, his own caveat matters most: the M4 or Galil with a brake may still treat you better until the Spear gets its muzzle. Where the published lists put it: TCX-SPR is placed by only 1 of 6 sources, under the 3 our list needs for a letter.

Quick answers

What is the best gun in WARDOGS Season 2? Evo4Fun makes the case for the TCX-SPR: the fastest time to kill of any assault rifle against tier 3 armour, with FMJ or AP, on his charts. Our own arithmetic puts it ahead of the M4 too.

When do you unlock the TCX-SPR? At Assault level 20, for $100,000, per Bulkhead's Season 2 notes. It took the M4's old slot; the M4 moved to Assault 28.

Can the TCX-SPR use armour-piercing ammo? Yes. It fires 7.62x39mm, and Bulkhead moved 7.62x39mm AP to WARDOG level 60.

Is the FAL still good in Season 2? Its round, .308 Winchester, lost 25% base damage. Bulkhead says it still hits hardest per shot of any assault rifle; Evo4Fun measured a bigger loss and says it is not worth unlocking this season.

Community-recorded from the in-game vendor, cross-checked across independent databases. Where they disagree on a price, the figure Bulkhead printed in its patch notes settles it when one database already matches it. Every other number is the databases' reading, and Early Access can retune any of them. Tier placements are read live from our own list, which is built from 6 attributed published rankings rather than from telemetry, so they move as that list does.
